The road is also considered dangerous because of the deprived level of oxygen at the extreme height. The road is believed to be the killer of hundreds of people.

About 300 people are believed to have expired on the North Yungas Highway in a single year. The highway is a subject to rain, fog, and smog most of the time. It includes three large mountain passes and is at the height of about 1500 feet. Snowfalls and rains are common during winters in this area. The blanket of snow and rainfall make it extremely difficult for drivers to drive on this road. So, make sure to check the weather before travelling to this road.
